Pub: Polygraphia Ltd, PO Box 167 Clearwater Cove ,West Harbour Auckland

ISBN 1-877332-29-1

Cate Carden was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 29 yrs of age and she didnt win longevity but she did win by her attitude and spirit. This young woman knew what the word endurance meant in every sence of the word. Cate's journey appeared in She magazine and Next 2006 Nov issue.

Book Review
Cate Carden has left us a remarkable insight into how a 29 yr old deals with the fact that she has breast cancer the day after delivering her second baby Megan, and how she keeps life normal from then on as a mother of two and wife of her beloved Damian.

In her words the aim of her diary is “to inspire you all, to tell you to keep positive even when you think “it’s all over” and the going gets tough. If it helps you or others to fight hard against your illness or to motivate others then I feel I have produced a success”.

This book is a success for Cate. It was written as it happens, not polished up and rewritten by an editor to smooth over the hard stuff.

Cate was a PE teacher , and a member of my local community while growing up.I had read about her in Nov 2005 SHE magazine. Her normal was to commit to run the Special K triathlons , holiday, and ski, even with a brain tumour. The book is dotted with family snap shots.

In the background of Cates life her friends inspire the community to a build a cottage which features in Next Mag 2006 for the children’s grandparents to reside in to take on eventually the care of the children while Damian worked.

Cates legacy of TV programmes, magazines give us a media slant on Cate, this book gives us the real fair dinkum Cate over time- how she thinks, how she reacts to chemo, surgery, the good and bad news sessions and to her family life. This book is her “take” on breast cancer . We can all learn from Cate.

“Staying on top-its what its all about”  Thanks for that pearl of wisdom Cate.
